Stating the Plain Truths, Clearly

This simple phrase is something I live my life by, something I aspire to, and something I hope to be remembered by. But even in my striving to achieve this, I fail. But here is yet another attempt of mine to uphold this core belief: by stating the evils that are present and real in this world.

After the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk, I have been trying to understand the right way to move forward. Obviously, we must call a spade a spade and we must also pray for our enemies. We can’t say that all “the left” killed him, wanted this, or is proud of this, but I can’t seem to articulate the division here either. Because when I look at the modern/up-and-coming left I see a disproportionate amount of them (compared to the right) who tolerated, embraced, or celebrated this tragic event.

However, I think the struggle to find and understand this division between traditional democrats and the modern left is a symptom of the very muddy waters that America finds itself in. In America, we don’t regularly differentiate between conservative and republican, liberal and democrat, modern liberal and classical liberal, progressive and democrat.

But the division we need to make when looking at the left is those that embrace secular progressivism and those that are simply democrat or left of center. Because those that are just democrat, blue-collar workers certainly would have never wanted this, but many of the secular progressives did celebrate, embrace, or tolerate this. Furthermore, secular progressivism is increasingly becoming the operating system of the modern left/democrat part and and is displacing the common folk who are now seen as quite uncommon.

Ideologies have consequences and we shouldn’t be surprised when we see secular-progressives/modern leftists live out the implications of their ideologies. When there is no belief in God, the unthinkable becomes practical to achieve your goals.

This Josh Howerton thread is incredibly insightful to the rise of violence on the left and is deserving of your read:

This ideology labels anyone who is in opposition to it as not a different viewpoint, competitor, or opponent, but an enemy. It is radical in seeking to tear down any and all power structures by any means necessary, because the end is progress, right? If society is simply divided into oppressed and oppressors then why would we not turn to violence to upend the system? If the end is an unachievable and ever evolving goal then aren’t unachievable and ever evolving means justified? Progressivism is wholly chaotic and lawless as it promotes being a god unto yourself, whereas conservatism full well acknowledges the reality of a Higher Power that governs us here below. Progressivism is steeped in Marxism, an ideology of blood.

I also cannot see how conservatism can be justified as morally the same. When George Floyd died, cities were looted, people killed, lives destroyed, streets burned, chaos ran rampant, anarchy and lawlessness abounded. But when Charlie Kirk - a man who holds the same beliefs as every Christian with a Biblical Worldview - is martyred in front of thousands of people in person and millions of people online we pray, gather, console, grieve, and honor our Lord and Charlie without a hint of lawlessness. Not one building was looted, burned, or destroyed. Not one person a single person lost their life because of our outrage.

Charlie was killed for having the same beliefs as you and me. Both ideologies, the one Charlie lived (conservatism) and the one he fought against (progressivism), showed the real consequences and implications of their ideologies. Both are not the same, but the lie of multiculturalism would have us believe that all ideologies are equal in their goodness.

Of course, violence has been seen on the right, as anything detached from God is a breeding ground for the demonic. But the modern left - not traditional democrats - are the party of violence in this time. Trust me, I know the dangers of the woke/collectivist right (which one could argue is not the right at all but a right leaning version of leftism). I fight these dangers and warn people of them. But that is not where the violence and hate and vitriol is largely found. It is found on the modern left. I wish this weren’t true and that we could “both sides” this issue, but we just can’t.

It’s time that we call out what we know to be evil.

What the modern left stands for, celebrates, inhabits, and tolerates, is wholly evil.

I had a friend text me recently “Political question, is there a difference between Conservative and Republican?” I bluntly replied “Yes” with a long explanation afterwards. I go on to explain how the waters of American politics are so muddied that we can’t even understand that conservative and progressive ideologies are by and large independent of our political parties but nonetheless adopted and inhabited by them. In another world, Conservative beliefs could align with the Democratic Party if the Democratic Party were conservative in their beliefs, but they are not.

Christians with a biblical worldview are conservative and therefore lean republican as republicans, by and large, uphold and defend and contend for conservative values. The Bible is a conservative document by nature. It doesn’t call for humans to progress to some unannounced goal (being a god unto their selves) in their own ability. This is condemned by God (I.e. the tower of Babel, sexual perversion, etc.). No, instead, we are taught to acknowledge our depravity and contend (conserve) for the truth, which we know brings human flourishing and true salvation. The Bible doesn’t call for perpetual victim hood, instead it calls for personal responsibility. This is why progressives can’t faithfully say they are bible believing Christians, because that ideology opposes the core tenants of what the bible teaches.

Progressives can’t conserve. Progressives can’t truly follow the teachings of the Bible because their worldview is waging war against the one the Bible wishes to promote. You may can be privately Christian and outwardly progressive or personally Christian and politically progressive, but then that asks the question of how you are being a true witness for the gospel, if you aren’t being salt and light? Or why you are putting your light under a basket so as to not show anyone the light (truth) of God? So, to be a biblically bold Christian - as we are commanded - we cannot have an ideology that forces us to hide our Christianity. And if we do choose to hide our Christianity, then we aren’t doing what we have been commanded by God to do.

Let me be clear, I am not at all calling for violence against the left (and if you think so you are intentionally misreading me) but begging that we do what Charlie lived and died for. We know that violence achieves nothing and only furthers the damage set before us. However, we are to persuade and find the spiritual root of their political issues, just as Charlie did. We must show people how their ideologies are incompatible with the word of God and therefore the West.

For those that say I am hateful and violent because of these words, that’s okay. You said the same thing to Charlie, but my words are not violence. They only feel violent because truth is an affront to the agenda of death and darkness.

I know this fight is not against flesh and blood, but I know that demons of darkness manifest themselves in ideologies and philosophies. While one demon can influence on person, a demonic ideology leads countless people astray.

We do not condemn people but debate ideas, just as Charlie did.

Christian, it is time to call a spade a spade: the modern leftist ideology is evil.
