Why TTM: Our Vision to See the Church Appeal to Scripture
For those of you who have been here for some time, you’ve seen Timeless Truth Media (TTM) tackle various things. In our early months We were really focused on addressing the election season and really sought to help Christians make informed, biblical decisions when it came to voting. After the election was over, we realized what the body of Christ was needing had changed. So as we’ve sought the Lord over the last few months we began to get an understanding of where the Lord was leading TTM in this new season. But before we get to that, We’d like to share a bit of the story of TTM. This won’t be an exhaustive testimony, but it will give you a better understanding of where we’re going next.
March 2024.
A little over a year ago, I felt the Lord start impressing it upon my heart to think through political and cultural positions that I held and then compare them to what the word spoke on these issues. As I began to go on this journey I did tons of research. For the first time I saw how much the Bible actually spoke clearly to present day issues and ideas. I saw how the Bible actually was relevant to every single issue, idea, and problem we presently face. As I searched my heart and the word I also began to see how I and many other Christians, especially those in my generation, had skewed ideas on what the word said about our modern-day issues. I saw just how little we actually appeal to scripture. This broke my heart. Truly.
April 2024.
I began to have conversations with a few trusted people about what the Lord had been showing me and the burden I started to feel for what He was showing me. As I dove into prayer and continued to seek more counsel, it became clear that the Lord was impressing it upon me to speak to believers about this. To speak to believers about our lack of an appeal to scripture.
Summer 2024.
After I felt like I had the direction the Lord was imploring me to go I started on that path. It started small. I sought brand inspiration on what the colors should be, the name, the logo, the “aesthetic.” However, this was simply to get the ball rolling. The goal was not to be some brand that’s just well known for being trendy, these were just tangible steps we could take to easily get started. After this, we sought the Lord on what we needed to cover. This would come to be known as our “foundations” articles. These articles would be our core beliefs and ideas that would dictate how I would proceed with TTM. This would dictate how we wrote blogs and how we sought to inform the body. August 2024.
This was the month TTM went live. I just returned from an internship over the summer and got everything ironed out before my sophomore semester of school started. We released our first blog A Biblical Worldview: The Basics. We then released two more foundational writings for TTM. Then we dove into the election season attempting to offer biblical clarity and timeless truth for many situations that arose in that season.
Now.
After the election season ended, we did a lot of searching on how the Lord wanted us to proceed in this new season and the direction He wanted us to go. As we’ve searched, the Lord brought us back to the reason we started in the beginning.
Many Christians are believers, but don’t solely base their biblical, cultural, and political opinions and positions in the word of God. This concerned us greatly that the Body of Christ was adding in things that were just wrong and unnecessary into our decision making and opinion taking.
At TTM we have a burden to see the church return to an appeal to scripture. We believe that its blasphemous for Christians to stand on positions that aren’t solely rooted in the word of God. Currently, the church is more focused on appealing to vibes than the Bible. Its far too evident that the church mixes in all types of secular and postmodernist thought into its positions. The church has been too quick to make itself culturally relevant at the expense of its biblical truth. It has watered down the Gospel for the sake of unity, empathy, and relevance.
Tragically, the church has decided to take stands based on culture, personal experience, political parties, feelings, race, and any other category that advances individual interests under the guise of standing for biblical unity and truth. In short, we saw the church too easily take positions based on culture and then justify them by the bible instead of viewing culture through the lens of the bible and then building their opinions about culture through the bible.
“Inspired by no earthly ambition, the Church seeks but a solitary goal: to carry forward the work of Christ under the lead of the befriending Spirit… To carry out such a task, the Church has always had the duty of scrutinizing the signs of the times and of interpreting them in the light of the Gospel.”
At TTM we will delve into many topics in an attempt to discover and teach what an appeal to scripture would look like for the many different areas the Church encounters. We will cover cultural issues, biblical debates, and political positions. We will always present biblical truth in everything that we do. This is not something we navigate flippantly, but with great reverence for our Lord, Jesus Christ, and with great love for His Church.. We want nothing more than a true appeal to scripture, something the church has strayed from for a long time.
